What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light-touch manual therapy that addresses restrictions in the craniosacral system–the membranes and fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord. This vital system extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum, or tailbone area.
Since the craniosacral system directly impacts the functioning of the central nervous system, it is easy to see how an imbalance there could cause any number of sensory, motor, or neurological dysfunctions or disabilities. Craniosacral Therapy helps correct those restrictions and imbalances so the body can release the effects of injury, trauma or stress-naturally.
How is Craniosacral Therapy Performed?
Craniosacral Therapy is performed on a fully-clothed body. Using a light touch, I monitor the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. I then use delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.
A therapy session typically lasts 60-90 minutes. Treatments can range from one session to as many as you need…depending on the nature of the dysfunction and the goals of treatment. The result?
A balanced central nervous system free of restrictions
A body able to return to its previous level of performance
Significantly reduced levels of stress
Significantly reduced or eliminated pain, headaches, fatigue
A reduction in tension, depression and anxiety
A deeper connection to one’s highest potential and freedom of expression
